Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: July 2026
The Work Pilot tests software tools for freelancers. This page explains how we make money and how that connects to what we recommend.
What Is an Affiliate Link?
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy or sign up, we may earn a small commission. You don’t pay anything extra.
How We Make Money
We work with affiliate programs run by software companies. We also work with affiliate networks that connect us to more companies.
Not every link on this site is an affiliate link. Many links point to free guides, tools, or pages that earn us nothing at all.
Where You’ll See These Links
You’ll find affiliate links in:
- Tool reviews
- “Best tools” lists
- Pages that compare two or more tools
- Guides that recommend specific software
We mark these pages clearly. You’ll see a short note near any affiliate link, so you always know when a link can earn us money.
Why We Use Affiliate Links
Testing a tool takes real time. We sign up, use it on real work, and compare it to other tools. That’s not fast. Affiliate income pays for that time, so we can keep testing tools instead of running ads.
Sponsored Content
As of July 2026, we don’t publish sponsored posts. If a tool shows up on this site, it’s because we chose to test it, not because someone bought a spot.
If that changes, any sponsored content will be clearly labeled, separate from our reviews, and won’t affect our rankings or recommendations. This page will be updated to reflect it.
How We Pick What to Recommend
Affiliate commissions don’t decide our rankings. We’ve recommended tools with no affiliate program at all, because they were the best fit. We’ve also skipped tools that pay a high commission, because they didn’t hold up when we tested them.
If a tool has weak support, a confusing setup, or missing features, we say so. That doesn’t change based on whether we earn from the link.
